We are thrilled to present our ESC project, born from the collaboration between Young Effect and the youth group from Marcallo con Casone—a group that has been actively working in the Magenta area for years. With this initiative, we aim to revitalize public spaces, improve the quality of social life, and offer young people opportunities for connection and personal growth, with a special focus on environmental sustainability.
During the project's initial phases, we listened to the needs expressed by local young people, who spoke of a desire for gathering spaces, opportunities to develop new skills, and chances to participate in activities at a European level. Based on this feedback, we designed a project that combines creativity, inclusion, and new technologies—such as podcasts—to raise awareness about issues of great social importance.
As part of this project, on September 27th, we organized two significant events involving young people from the local area and across Europe:
In the morning, around 30 young people gathered to clean up Ticino Park, making a tangible contribution to protecting our environment. The activity went beyond mere litter collection; it also served as an opportunity to raise public awareness about the importance of respecting and preserving nature.
During this activity, we received wonderful words of encouragement from Gaetano Ciochetta, an environmentalist who happened to be walking in the park. Impressed by our commitment, he shared his experience on social media, writing:
"Kudos, everyone—with you, Europe would certainly be in good hands!" His words filled us with pride and gave us even more motivation to keep going!
The day continued with the "Green Library" event, held at the Sala San Marco in Marcallo con Casone. This gathering brought together young people from 10 European countries to discuss topics related to the environment and sustainability. Organized as an "Open Café," the event gave participants the chance to share books, documentaries, and articles focused on the "green environment." It was also an opportunity to practice English, breaking down language barriers and fostering cultural exchange.
Our ESC project doesn’t stop here. We will continue to offer activities that engage young people in creating gathering spaces and promoting values such as sustainability, creativity, and inclusion. We aim to transform places like the library and city parks into true hubs for dialogue, culture, and innovation.
Our goal is to combat social alienation by offering positive alternatives that help young people feel part of a welcoming and stimulating community.
