For the final event of our "Open Library" series, we decided to focus on European projects, given the strong interest shown by many local young people in these opportunities.
As our project was drawing to a close, it seemed fitting—especially with a view to disseminating results—to address this topic as the final event in the library-organized series. Due to space constraints, the event was held at the Sala San Marco, near the Marcallo con Casone library.
We primarily invited young people aged 13 to 30, introducing them to the following European opportunities:
ESC (European Solidarity Corps and Solidarity Projects): We discussed the value of volunteering abroad. Some members of our team had previously participated in the ESC, and the experience had a highly positive impact on their lives. Our coach, who had also undertaken a European volunteering experience, helped motivate participants to seize this opportunity.
EYE (Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs): There are young entrepreneurs active in our community who have taken part in this program. We reached out to young people who had already embarked on an entrepreneurial path, discussing this opportunity for learning abroad as an investment in their professional futures.
Exchanges and training via ERASMUS+: We also explored mobility opportunities for both young people and youth workers. Local organizations active in this field had the chance to present their projects, turning the event into a useful showcase for raising awareness of their work in the local area. Using non-formal education methods—such as World Café-style thematic roundtables—we sought to introduce young people to opportunities offered by the European Union, while also proposing follow-up ideas linked to the conclusion of our Open Library project.
