We’re excited to present the outcomes of BRAVE – Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism, an Erasmus+ training course designed to equip youth workers with the knowledge, tools, and methodologies needed to prevent radicalization and foster inclusive, resilient communities. At a time marked by social tensions, misinformation, and increasing polarization, this project supports those working closely with young people, helping them recognize early warning signs, understand the mechanisms behind radicalization, and counter extremist narratives effectively.
BRAVE guides participants through a comprehensive journey combining theoretical input, practical workshops, and replicable tools. The toolkit developed within the project offers activities, exercises, communication strategies, and educational methods that promote critical thinking, empathy, intercultural dialogue, and a strong sense of belonging. Through participatory approaches and analysis of local realities, youth workers learn to identify vulnerable groups, understand the radicalization process, critically assess the influence of media and public figures, and design concrete, sustainable interventions tailored to their communities.
In this article, you will find practical guidelines, methodologies for daily youth work, and an overview of the resources included in the Brave toolkit a valuable asset for anyone committed to creating safe, inclusive environments capable of resisting the pressures of extremism. Together, we are building a European network of informed, empowered youth workers dedicated to strengthening community resilience and promoting peace.
